After Boise Jeff went through the car. "This thing looks brand new" were the words over the phone. My wife Linda joined us for the first time in over a year for the CHRR. October 12, I felt good, things are going good, great guys working with me, great guy tuning and a great guy driving. The gig for the CHRR was a little different this year. It was basically a one day elimination race. First round right off the trailer the ole Daytona ripped off a 6.02 @ 239.9 mph win over the Buggs group. Back to the pit for a quick check. Everything looks good so - change the oil and fuel it up.

Second round against Roland Leong and Terry Capp in the Bubble Up car. These guys run 5.8 - 5.9. At the light its a race, Mike treed him by a good whack but at half track the Daytona gets loose and I bite my tounge. Back to the pit and again - everything checks good. It's a long drive home so we pack it up and everyone heads out.

The last race of the year. Phoenix, October 25th. Linda came along and planned on spending some time with her sister as well as watching us thrash. For the first time in over a year I suited up and jumped in for a 60 footer. We hot lapped the car and Mike jumped in to check some things over. At 300' the car got pretty loose so we called it a night. The following morning, as we were checking things over, Mike noticed the upper chassis rail rear motor lug had a nice sized crack around it. We stripped all the tin off both sides and quickly realized our weekend was over. Three of four rails damaged. The winter will allow time for repair and a couple of modifications that will give us an upper hand next year.
